The month of November starts the season of Thanksgiving and being prominently more thankful. While I'm ready to say peace to this year, it has taught me to be thankful in more ways than one.
2020 threw us all a curveball and gave us a year to remember (or not to remember in some cases). There have been so many ups and downs, and more downs. Despite the lows, we have to continue moving along with the year.
This year gave me the gift of time. Although I went to the office for the first few months of the year, I've been working from home since mid March. My 30 sometimes 45 minute commute went away. Without a commute, it allowed me to be present at home, be around my husband and kids more, and allowed me to be more efficient with time work wise. I'm thankful for that.
This year gave me the gift of being able to see a little of the Southwest region that I normally wouldn't see up close in person. We drove from Texas through New Mexico to our final destination of Arizona. In a normal world, we would fly, but this year afforded us time to drive to our destination. We saw the Prada exhibit in Marfa, the White Sands and Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico, and the beautiful red rocks in Sedona. I'm happy for the opportunity, and missing every moment of that trip.
This year gave me time with family. Whilst I haven't spent time with all of my family, it has given me time with some. COVID is a tricky thing, and although I can't see everyone & vice versa, technology allows us to see each other at any point in time. When we got to see some family in person, it makes that time spent together even more special.
This year has allowed me to think more, be thoughtful and mindful, and not take things for granted (although at times it may be hard not to).
Tell me, what are you thankful for?
